Kim Kofi Kwakye

Graduate Student (PhD)

Kim Kofi Kwakye is a PhD student in the Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (NRES) program at the University of Northern British Columbia and a member of the MATTER research team. He has been enrolled in the NRES PhD program since January 2026. His research interests span water and soil remediation, wastewater treatment, environmental materials, spectroscopy, materials characterization, and interactions between minerals, organic matter, and contaminants.

Within MATTER, Kim is developing his doctoral research around sustainable approaches for addressing water- and soil-quality challenges, including the use and characterization of functional and waste-derived materials for environmental remediation. His work aims to connect fundamental materials characterization with practical solutions for contaminated water, soils, and resource-industry-related environmental challenges.
